A Nakuru granny who allegedly killed a neighbor was on Wednesday morning arraigned before a Nakuru court facing murder charges.
However, she did not take plea after the police filed an application to hold the suspect for three more days to allow completion of investigations.
Resident magistrate Yvonne Khatambi directed that the suspect, Mary Nyaguthii, be held at Elementaita police station until investigations are completed.
The suspect is accused to have murdered Loise Njeri at Kanorero village in Gilgil Nakuru County under unclear circumstances.
It is believed the deceased had gone to fetch water from Nyaguthii’s water tank as has been the norm with many villagers in the neighborhood.
According to the deceased's father-in-law John Ngige, the suspect was a generous woman who assisted locals with clean water and was surprised when he received the news.
The suspect was arrested immediately after residents flocked the home and called in the police who took her to Elementaita police station.
The body of the deceased was taken to Nakuru County mortuary.
Mr Ngige added that they have been left in shock seeing that there was no dispute between the suspect and the deceased or their families when the incident occured.
According to a section of the residents, the suspect might be senile considering her age and the sudden reaction.
