The granny identified as Sarah Kwamboka was allegedly left with her granddaughter when her mother went to the market on Sunday only to sell the baby to a middle-aged woman from Migori County.

The baby’s mother, Agnes Moraa said she had left the baby with her grandmother as she went to attend to some issues when she came back the granny denied being in possession of the baby.

"I left my mother Inlaw with my child and when I came back the child was no more we later realized that she had soled the baby at a cost of sh 3000," said Moraa.

Confirming the incident, Kisii South OCPD Edward Mutua said it was reported by officers from Kerina that a child went missing on Saturday with police tracing the suspect only to realize the Granny sold to a middle-aged woman.

This comes as the latest baby stealing incident after a similar case was reported at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) a week ago when a twin baby was stolen at the health facility. The baby was later found in Kawangware with the suspect being arrested.
