A 70-year-old Nakuru woman who allegedly strangled her three-month-old grandson to death claims that she was sent by ‘spirits’ to do so.
According to police reports the granny who was drunk when she strangled the baby boy said that she was not in her normal self when she committed the act.
The incident which happened on Sunday night at Langa Langa Estate shocked many residents as the boy’s mother was present when the granny was strangling the boy to death.
Addressing the press on Thursday morning, Nakuru OCPD Bernard Kioko said that the granny told the police that she was possessed at the time she killed her grandson and the same spirit had taken hostage of her daughter to prevent her from raising an alarm.
“The old woman claims she was sent by some ‘spirit’ to do what she did, but that is just a story for us to hear, we have no otherwise than to take both of them to court,” said Kioko.
It is alleged that both the granny and her daughter (the boy’s mother) were drunk at the time of the incident.
They are due to be availed in court this afternoon (Thursday) to face murder charges.
