Key attention is on the second Nairobi County Assembly and how it performs in line with the expectations of the electorate.
This is after voters reversed roles in House leadership in the August 8, 2017 general elections.
In the last county government under former Governor Evans Kidero, ODM party enjoyed the majority position in the Assembly while TNA (later Jubilee Party) sat in the minority.
But this has changed after Jubilee Party took over with majority seats and reserved the minority to ODM.
This came along with leadership changes in the House as former majority leader Elias Otieno was dethroned to the minority leader’s position as former minority leader Abdi Guyo rose to majority leader.
Speaking to the Nation, Guyo now says the House will be back to work on the needs of the county.
“The assembly has not been robust as Nairobians would have wished in the first quarter but expect things to change since elections are over as we ensure that the government delivers on its manifesto,” he said.
The current leadership is touted for a good futire since it will also receive support from the government as both the governor and President Uhuru Kenyatta hail from the same Jubilee Party.
