Life is about knowing your worth, you should not pin yourself down thinking you are unworthy. It is important to examine yourself and raise your standard. The great inspiration is by the former Makueni senator, late Mutula Kilonzo.
According to Abraham Mutwol, a motivational speaker and an author of various books including Leadership and Motivation, the late Kilonzo is a role model to many people. He inspired many people to know their worth and raise standards.
When the late Kilonzo graduated from the University of Dar-es-salaam in 1969 with a first class honors Degree in Law, he opened a law firm in Nairobi. He then conducted a research to find out what was the most expensive lawyer in the city charging as a consultation fee.
He found out that it was the renowned lawyer Ghai Muli who was to become Kenya's second black Attorney General. Muli was the most expensive charging Sh2,500.
Mutula Kilonzo with no experience whatsoever believed in his self worth and decided to double the figure to Sh5,000. The increment worked for him because when the tycoons were seeking lawyer services they would ask, who is the most expensive lawyer in the city? The answer was Mutula Kilonzo. People believe the most expensive is of the super quality. This is how his law firm picked up rapidly until it got the eye of the former President Daniel Moi. He employed him to serve as his private attorney.
From the story of the late Mutula Kilonzo, it is clear that knowing your worth is worth it. You should not allow yourself be degraded instead raise your standard.
