A somber mood on Thursday engulfed Nyamira county as families and friends paid their last respect to the 8 departed victims of the grisly Narok accident.
The 8 were among the 20 passengers who lost their lives in the tragic accident.
The mass service held at Nyamira Primary grounds attracted a great number of mourners among them area leaders who joined the mourners in eulogising the departed victims.
Nyamira governor, John Nyangarama and his deputy, Amos Ntaribo also graced the service.
The governor promised to settle the morgue bill of the departed souls.
"We are going to waive the mortuary bills of these departed souls," said John Nyangarama, Nyamira governor.
"We are also praying for those who are still alive to have energy and blessings of the Lord. We are promising to be with the orphans left behind and let them be blessed," added Amos Ntaribo, deputy governor, Nyamira.
The tragic accidents involved a Daima Connection bus which was heading to Nairobi from Kendu Bay before the victims meet their demise in Narok.
According to eyewitnesses, the driver of the ill-fated bus is said to have lost control while attempting to avoid colliding with an SGR company truck ferrying construction materials before plunging into river Siyaipei in Narok.
20 people lost their lives in the crush. Survivors of the crush are currently recovering in various hospitals.
The 8 victims are set to be buried on Friday in their respective homes.
