Residents of Rioma village in Marani are yet to come to terms following a mysterious death of a middle-aged man yesterday.
Elius Mosoti, 51, was found dead outside his house by family members under unclear circumstances.
John Ogendi, brother to the deceased, said he woke up early morning to inform his brother of the day’s plans only to find his body outside the house.
“I woke up in the morning to inform him what we were to do that material day only to find him dead," he said.
"It was shocking since we never heard any noise from his house or any call for help.”
He said his brother was a widower following the death of his wife in a related circumstance many years ago and their two children were grownups working in different parts of the country.
“His wife also died years ago in unclear circumstances similar to what I have seen today. He was of robust health and I am sure there was a human hand behind this mystery,” he said.
According to him, his brother may have been strangled by anonymous people before dragging him out of the house.
“I think there was a human hand behind this. They strangled him to death and left him outside the house. We can upon the government to help us identify his killers,” he said.
Marani OCPD Bernard Kimwele confirmed the incident and asked area residents to be vigilant and work with the police to combat such crimes.
The deceased's body was taken to Kisii teaching and referral hospital awaiting postmortem examination.
