Abraham Okinyi, 51, went missing on Boxing Day last year after going to meet a friend who had promised to sell him a piece of land near Mosobeti market.

According to his brother Simon Okinyi, the father of three never came back home that evening and this resulted to intensive search by both the police and family members.

“On Boxing Day he never reported back home. He had told me that he was going to meet a friend and inspect a piece of land that he wanted to buy,” said Okinyi.

He said searching efforts proved hard since they had no accurate specifications that could have helped to make it easier.

“I was not keen to identify the kind of clothing my brother wore that day. This made it difficult to get any information from the public,” said Okinyi.

However, the body of the deceased was retrieved near his home after children who were playing noticed it and informed the family.

“We just got information from children who were playing near this place. I was quick to identify him given his face is familiar,” said Okinyi.

The body was taken by police officers from Nyamira police station to Nyamira level four hospital for a post-mortem.

Area chief Ondieki Abaya condemned the incident and asked members of the public with any information that can help the government identify perpetrators to report to a nearby police station or his office.
