The boy who was a form 3 student at Kimumu Secondary School arrived on Wednesday from school before changing his uniform and told his mother he was going to see a friend then back to help her herd their cattle but that was the last day her mother would see him alive.

Confirming the incident, area Chief David Maiyo said it was unfortunate to loose such a young brilliant boy and also urged the residents to keep off the dam as it is a dangerous spot considering the heavy downpour currently being experienced.

In addition, eyewitnesses said the boy was seen with a girl from the neighborhood walking along the dam before they both slid to the dam and the boy who was wearing gumboots sunk dip due to mud in the dam while the girl managed to hold on to the grass on the river banks and screampt for safety before villages run to rescue the young girl who told them his friend sunk dip not to be seen.

The villagers helped in pursuit of the body but due to heavy downpour the boy was not found until the morning of Thursday after which it was taken to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary for postmortem.

It's barely a month when a similar incident happened involving a class 4 pupil who drowned to death in hole which was used by the county to get murram for roads but later the heavy downpour led to the hole being filled by water, causing outcry from the residents raising concerns of the safety of their children.
