The nine students who perished during the Moi Girls’ High School dormitory fire have been positively identified.
The team of experts was headed by Government Pathologist Johansen Oduor to conduct the identification process using DNA samples from parents and relatives.
Among the identified bodies include Esther Mose, Whitney Kerubo, Natalia Nanga, Hawa Awuor Aziz, Alakir Malong, Hannah Jeiso and Mercia Eunice Ogello.
Speaking at Chiromo, deputy director of the National Management Disaster Unit Pius Masai said the families will have to first undergo expert counselling before viewing the bodies.
“ ... thereafter each family will be allowed to see their loved ones as each name has been matched with a body after the DNA test and all have been identified,” he said.
“Thereafter, they will receive documentation from the doctor confirming that it is the person,” he added.
