The parent's of a 10-year-old boy who died of a snake bite a week ago after a doctor failed to attend to him are seeking justice from the health ministry of Machakos county.
The child was bitten by a snake at his home in Mikuyuni village in Ikalaasa location, Mwala sub-county.
The grieving parents want the county to take punitive measures on the doctor who turned away the patient.
The mother of the child on Thursday morning called upon the government of Machakos county Dr Alfred Mutua together with the minister of Health to intervene so that her child's death is not in vain.
The Member of County Assembly for Kibaoni, Mutua Ngunzi has however assured the family thet he will ensure the matter is handled by the authority as well as the Kenya Wildlife Service.
"My condolences go to the parents of the boy who passed on after a snake bite. I will ensure justice is served to the family by the KWS and ensure investigation on the doctor who refused to attend to the child's critical situation," said Ngunzi.
The child is said to have died after the parents failed to raise enough funds in Machakos level 5 hospital where they were forced to go back home.
The child passed on after a few hours.
