A lobby has accused a section of NASA leaders of planning to swear in Opposition leader Raila Odinga on Tuesday, the same day President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to take the oath of office.
According to Mount Kenya Youth Caucus, the politicians planning to swear in Raila are trying to cover themselves from the shame after misadvising their leader to boycott the fresh presidential election conducted on October 26, 2017.
"They are just seeking some relevance and to hide their mistakes of misleading Raila to keep off the poll thinking things would go their way," said Chairman Linford Mutembei while addressing journalists in Meru Town, Thursday.
Mutembei said only President Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto should be take the oath of office having declared the winners of last month election.
"Any other planned swearing-in is illegal and should not be allowed to take place," he said.
Opposition leaders led by Siaya Senator James Orengo and former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama have threatened to swear in the former Prime Minister, claiming he won August 8 election which they accuse Jubilee of rigging.
But Mutembei termed the move as unconstitutional, saying the politicians should be arrested and be dealt with in accordance with the law.
"He (Raila) lost the August polls and those who intend to conduct his swearing-in should be put behind bars and dealt with in accordance with the provisions of the law," he added.
