Humprey Gakonyo, who is one of the group's founders has told this reporter how the group is trying to inculcate good values to the players in the sector, who are mainly conductors and drivers.

“One of the things we have found that these matatu people lack is self esteem. When you have a low self esteem you lack purpose of what you do,” said Gakonyo.

Gakonyo said that the training, which they give to those willing, is meant to bring a total mental shift and behaviour change in the long run.

“When we help them to change the negative perception they have towards their job, they will be able to manage their money well, avoid drunk-driving as well as observe the other traffic laws,” he added.

He has also said that the training entails training the matatu crew on how to handle the passengers well including the disturbing ones.
