The National IDPs Network has called on President Uhuru Kenyatta to step in and sort out the issue of integrated displaced persons across the country.
Speaking to the press in Nakuru on Friday, Keffa Magenyi, coordinator, the National IDPs Network, said the issue of integrated IDPs has been a hindrance to development in this country and should be sorted out once and for all.
Magenyi, however, called on the government to investigate those who have been extorting large amounts of money from the displaced persons claiming they are IDP officials.
"We want to caution those who have been extorting money from Integrated IDPs that their days are numbered and we are appealing to the President to come in and help sort out this issue," he said.
According to the official, 11,000 IDPs have been settled and there are no displaced persons in camps except the integrated IDPs who are yet to be resettled.
Magenyi added that they are in the process of profiling households that have been accommodating the internally displaced persons.
"So far we have profiled 120,000 households with the aim of getting all the facts so that we can know how to resettle the integrated IDPs," he added.
This comes as even the President assured the nation that all IDPs will be resettled.
