The members of Ngenda New Farmers Company say that their land, which is in Makuyu, was gone till the National Land Commission and Lands Ministry intervened.

“We are very grateful to the government for staying true to its word that it is indeed going to sweep clean all the land grabbers. Our land has been off our hands for a long time but we were surprised to be called at the District Officer's office to be told that our land had been returned to us,” said Peter Kibe, the group's Chairman in Ngenda, during a members meeting.

They now say that the remaining thing is to sub-divide the land among them.

“The grabber had taken the land and the coffee plantation that was in it, but we are relieved that finally we got justice and every member will now get their share,” added Kibe.

David Kimani, a member said the government has done a honourable thing, and hoped it can help other kenyans in other areas to reclaim grabbed land.

“We thank the National Land Commission and hope that they will continue to help other Kenyans who are in a situation like we were,” said Kimani.
