Speaking at the Mombasa Beach Hotel during their meeting with African Peer Review Mechanism officials, the groups said patients in the county continue to suffer because of negligence and lack of drugs.

Although the county government has used billions in renovating the hospital, there is little that can make residents of this region to smile about.

The groups said the hospital is in a pathetic state and something has to be done to rescue the lives of residents who are ever seeking treatment at the facility.

According to the Star, they noted that most of the patients at the hospital are compelled to sleep on the floor because of the lack of beds.

“The floors are dirty as they are not regularly cleaned,” MYWO chairperson Afia Rahma said, as quoted by the Star.

She also pointed out that the doctors at the hospital are not dedicated to their duties despite being paid for the same.

“The available doctors concentrate on a few. Above that, nurses and doctors in the facility have a poor attitude,” Rahma said.
