General Service Unit (GSU), regular police and administration police officers have been deployed in Likoni, Mombasa County, following an increase in the number of criminal gangs.
Likoni OCPD Willy Simba said the deployed officers have been tasked with restoring sanity in the area, by arresting gang members terrorizing residents.
According to Baraka FM, criminals believed to be members of the Watalia and Wakali Kwanza gangs have been attacking residents in the area using pangas.
“I want to assure Mombasa residents that we will provide sufficient support to officers in order to provide security to the residents. We are doing everything possible to bring the culprits to book,” said Mr Simba.
The officers are reported to have been seen patrolling areas such as Shelly beach, Majengo mapya Timbwani and Jamvi, believed to be the gangs' hideout.
