Balambala Constituency MP Abdikadir Aden has asked Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Joseph Nkaissery to guarantee the country's security during this electioneering period.

The MP says that Nkasissery has to make sure that the country remains peaceful before, during and after the August 8 polls.

Aden notes that instances of insecurity that have been reported in some parts of the country recently especially on border points is a concern for Kenyans.

“The national government through the Interior Ministry must guarantee security as the country heads to the general election in August,” he said on Monday as quoted by the Standard.

Aden said that August polls will be peaceful if Kenyans are assured of their safety.

He asked Nkaissery to act firm on politicians who allegedly hire goons to disrupt opponent’s rallies.

While condemning the alleged disruption of Cord leader Raila Odinga’s meeting by alleged armed gunmen in Katili, Turkana on Friday last week, Aden urged Nkaissery to investigate and take stern action on culprits.

He said that the disruption of Raila’s meeting was a well calculated plan adding that the opposition will speak against hooliganism.

Raila’s meeting was disrupted after armed gunmen allegedly shot in the air at Katili in Turkana last week.

A section of Turkana politicians allied to Jubilee Party have however downplayed the incident saying that no one disrupted Odinga’s meeting as being claimed.
