The MCA says that their security should be guaranteed by the government.

He said that they encounter security challenges in their work.

Uiri noted that cases of threats and intimidation targeted at them are getting out of hand.

“The national government should provide security top us because we are becoming targets for criminals,” he said on Tuesday at Ndumberi trading center in Kiambu.

The MCA said that the recent death threats against Gitothua MCA Patrick Chege and others who have not spoke out shows that their security is not guaranteed.

Uiri blamed political competition to high cases of intimidation against MCAs.

Last week Mr Chege resurfaced after he went missing for one week.

The MCA said that he had received death threats from some people promoting him to seek refuge at a local parish in Ruiru Sub County. He said that some political forces in Kiambu are threatening him.

On Friday last week, Kisumu West MP Paul Okiri who had been allegedly kidnapped was found alive in Rongo.

The MCA claimed that he was kidnapped by three unknown people who bundled him in a car at dumped him in Rongo.

He claimed that his abductors warned him against seeking re-election for the seat on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party.

Police have launched investigations into both cases.

Members of County Assembly across the county have been demanding the Inspector General of Police to provide them with security to counter the threats they receive in line of duty.
