A night guard is  reportedly missing after a robbery incident that took place at a church in Kabete, Kiambu County on Tuesday morning.

A gang of ten men is said to have attacked the Blood of Christ Ministries Church in Wangige town and stole properties worth thousands before setting the church ablaze 

Kabete Deputy County Commissioner Leonard Mgute says the guard, Benard Olang'o, might have been abducted since he has not been seen since Tuesday.

Isaac Kimani, a witness says the gang attacked Olang’o and tied  him to thwart his efforts to raise an alerm.

“They broke the iron sheet walls and made entry. I locked myself in my room and called the church chairlady who invited the police,” Kimani said.

He added: “Within some few minutes, the thugs left with properties and boarded a van that was waiting after setting the church on fire.”

Church Pastor Samuel King’ori confirmed that speakers, three microphones and Sh25,000 cash were among the stolen items.

He added that a music mixer, piano, plastic chairs, wall hangings, a speaker mounted on a wall, important church documents and other valuables were destroyed in the fire.
