Motorists in Gucha in Kisii County have been asked to be more cautious on roads to curb road carnage.
Area police base commander chief inspector Elvis Kemboi on Friday said motorbike riders and passenger matatus carrying excess will be arrested and prosecuted.
Kemboi said road accidents across the country last year was on the rise and same should not happen if motorists will follow road rules.
“All road users plying Ogembo – Kilgoris, Kisii – Migori routes must be careful on the road to help end road accidents,” he said.
Kemboi noted that motorbike riders should wear heavy clothes, gloves, and helmets at all times.
“Riders should only carry one passenger and closing time for motorbikes to operate should be at 9 pm daily,” he said.
He added that matatu drivers must drive at a recommended speed because over speeding will lead to accidents.
Kemboi urged residents of Etago area on Monday to attend a meeting that will be held in the area to give views on how to improve safety on roads.
