Parents in Kisumu County have been challenged to closely monitor their children and maintain high standards of discipline to improve their educational standards.
Kisumu County's Young Elites Chairperson Fleming Otieno on Tuesday challenged parents to watch keenly their children and to encourage them to form study groups to boost their knowledge, especially now that teachers are on strike.
Otieno said children must maintain high levels of discipline if they are to succeed education wise.
“Parents should guide their young ones especially when they are at home to improve their knowledge," said Otieno.
Beatrice Okuthe, her counterpart, echoed her sentiments, saying that success in education goes hand in hand with discipline.
She further emphasised the need to monitor children while at home, asking the government to find an amicable solution to the teachers' strike to have children back to class.
