Former Rarieda MP Eng Nicholas Gumbo has questioned the silence of Independent Police Oversight Authority (IPOA) about the police brutality on ant-IEBC protesters in the Nyanza.

Eng. Gumbo said that the silence of IPOA about the police misconduct and use of excessive force on members of the public raises many queries with reference to its independence.

Gumbo who spoke to the press demanded that IPOA should now come out to show its roles regarding the Police brutality in Nyanza during anti-IEBC protests.

He lamented that there are some innocent lives that have been lost while many others are now nursing bullet injuries in various hospitals across the region.

The former legislator said that the authority must now flex its muscles in reigning errant and trigger-thirsty police officers who are killing innocent lives that are fighting for reforms in the Country.

Gumbo condemned the killing of two protesters by police in Bondo town during the NASA demonstration against IEBC, adding that such police officers should be arrested and charged with murder.

Gumbo also said that it was a criminal offence for police officers who assigned the duty of protecting demonstrators to lobby teargas on School children who have nothing to do with the demonstrations.
