Locals of Kondele, Lolwe and Manyatta in Kisumu are a worried lot as Anti-IEBC demos took into the night.
Gunshots fires would be heard until late in the evening at around 9.
Police were trying to contain a group of youth playing hide and seek with the police.
The group of well-coordinated youth burned tires along the road paralyzing traffic along the busy Kondele road at the Super Highway.
A large number of people where trapped along Kibuye since no vehicles moved along the busy road leading to Lolwe Estate and Manyatta.
“We are worried with the darkness creeping in and the gunshots we here, we don’t know what might happen next,” said a lady identified as Mama Tacy.
Business in the area was paralyzed for the better part of the day.
“We opened in the morning and it was business as usual until around 12noon when this youth started running around with the police. I am afraid this has gone on until this late in the night. I was hoping to prepare for tomorrow’s orders but I will be forced to close,” said Babra Amondi who runs a hotel in Greenfield Estate.
Ambulances would also be spotted along Lolwe Estate ready for emergencies.
Raphael Obiero a police officer from Kondele Police Station said the youth where taking advantage of the protests to loot from innocent Kenyans.
“We have had to disperse a group of youth pretending to be demonstrating yet they are organized gangs planning to steal from locals.” He said.
He questioned the youth intention of running into late at night demonstrating.
“It is insane at 8pm someone is still claiming to be demonstrating. This are thieves waiting for the opportune time to steal from Kenyans."
