Garissa Women Representative Annab Gure has warned her opponents against tarnishing her name after she won the seat.
The vocal politician said it is unfortunate for her opponents to resort to unconstitutional ways to address their dissatisfaction. This is after a post on a Garissa Facebook group page hurling her with unprintable words.
The lawmaker called upon leaders and residents not to engage in side shows for the sake of development in the region.
“As your leaders, you criticise us based on performance and/or lack of it. Abusing people because you don't like them is bad and shows ignorance” said Gure, as quoted by Star.
She also reminded leaders and parents of the need to mentor their children for the sake of the future.
“We need to nature our young people on how to shape opinions without necessarily being personal. At the end of the day we are all brothers and sisters” she said.
The lawmaker also said that she has sought to legal intervention following the post that tarnished her reputation.
“All I can tell you for now is that I have already reported the matter to the relevant authorities,” Gure said on phone.
