Garissa Women Representative Annab Gure has asked administrators of social media groups to be strict and only encourage members to take part in positive debates that can lead to development in the region and entire.

Gure, who was responding to an abusive post of Facebook, said that is unfortunate for the youth in Garissa to share such sentiments.

She asked her critics to judge her based on her performance scoreboard and not abuse her. The lawmaker attributed the sentiments shared by some of the residents as a sign of lack of knowledge.

“As your leaders, you criticise us based on performance and/or lack of it. Abusing people because you don’t like them is bad and shows ignorance,” said Gure, as quoted by Star.

The woman rep also called upon different parties to help in nurturing the youths into responsible adults.

“We need to nature our young people on how to shape opinions without necessarily being personal. At the end of the day we are all brothers and sisters, she added.

Gure also said that she has reported the matter to the police, adding that an action will be taken against the culprits.  “All I can tell you for now is that I have already reported the matter to the relevant authorities,” she stated.
