Ahadi Kenya Trust officials have called upon the Gusii community to ensure that they shun the old retrogressive female genital cut more now that the holidays are approaching and ensure that they promote education.
Speaking at Nyasuguta secondary on their closing ceremony early Thursday Ahadi trust county representative Evelyn Ombuna said that the regions are among those few regions were carrying out the activity secretly and its high time they stop it.
She, however, regretted that some girls are forced to undergo the exercise and called upon the residents to be the eye of the government and report any case more so now that the holidays is approaching.
“We want to ensure that we completely get off with the FGM practice and the society is the one that will help us in that” she added
She called upon parents to ensure that they engage their children during the holidays so that they can also avoid getting early pregnancies and marriages.
