Elders from the Gusii Elders Council have called for a meeting to discuss development issues in the region and how to help tone down rising political temperatures.
The meeting comes amid political heat gained especially after the recent County Assembly by-election in Nyacheki Ward.
The Elders Council Chairman Araka Matundura said that all leaders in the region have been invited for the Kisii National Polytechnic meeting on Friday.
“We have invited both the elected and aspiring political leaders. Business people from the community will also attend the meeting to discuss development issues affecting the region,” said Matundura.
The meeting is deemed to bring together political ideology from both the Jubilee and Cord sides with an aim of creating a common voice for the community.
However, there are doubts the political figures from the region will attend the meeting since the council yet to be recognised wholly in the region as a section of residents have dismissed it for seeking monetary gains.
