Led by their chairman Thomas Nyangoka, the elders warned youths against using social media platforms to taint the image of the CS.

"We want to sent a stern warning to those people who have been working so hard to paint the interior security Hon. Fred Matiang'i in bad picture that your days are numbered.

"Soon or later you are going to face the full force of the law." said Nyangoka.

Nyangoka said there was a group compring of people from Gusii and other parts of the country who did not want Matiangi to take the new job.

He demanded that Embakasi East MP Babu Owino apologizes for allegedly insulting Matiangi as a dead man.

The elders differed with elected MPs from the area who have already termed Matiangi an outsider in the county.

The MPs who spoke in Nairobi recently said Matiangi hailed from South Mugirango in Kisii County and was only staying in Nyamira.

They claimed President Kenyatta should consider aliens for senior government jobs because they vigorously campaigned for him.

But Victor Nyang’aya a member of the elders told the MPs to retrace the history of Omogusii.

Nyang’aya said Matiangi’s grandfather hailed from Ogango in Nyamira before they migrated to South Mugirango and later Borabu.

The elders said Matiangi was a performer and should be respected by the Abagusii and the entire country as he serves Kenyans.
