Janet Ong’era has dismissed claims by Kisii Senator Chris Obure that Gusii region will vote for President Uhuru Kenyatta in August.
Recently, Jubilee strategic team zoned both Kisii and Nyamira counties as tossups despite opposition leader Raila Odinga beating Kenyatta with a wide margin in 2013.
And on Tuesday Ong’era maintained that the region would still vote in favour of opposition contrary to Obure’s remarks on Monday.
“You do not need rocket science to tell that Gusii is an Odinga zone,” said Ong’era, who once served as Orange Democratic Movement Chief Executive.
The ODM nominated senator, who is running for Kisii County Women Representative seat added: “We will not only ensure we win but with a bigger margin than in 2013.”
Even though Mr. Odinga enjoys significant support in the region, the Jubilee Party has been making inroads with its top leadership visiting the region in several occasions.
Mr. Obure, who ditched ODM for Jubilee, is set to run against Governor James Ongwae, a close ally of Odinga.
