Gladys Wanga has sensationally dismissed reports that Gusii region is a swing adding that Jubilee will still lose both in Kisii and Nyamira counties.
The Homabay Women Representative, who was speaking in Kisii town on Wednesday, was responding to findings of Jubilee party strategists who earmarked the region as a tossup.
“Uhuru Kenyatta should get busy elsewhere because the Gusii people will solidly remain intact in NASA. They are wasting a lot of time moving around,” she said.
In 2013, opposition leader Raila Odinga, who is set to wrestle Kenyatta in a 2013 rematch, managed to scoop over 70 percent of votes from both regions.
And in a period of five years, both Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto have made combined trips of 20 times to the region and even managed to woo a section of local leadership.
Interestingly, Ruto who toured the region slightly over two days before the NASA team insisted that Jubilee inroads have paid significant dividends that will materialize in August.
“We do not have competitors and there is no need to go for an election. They have lost both Nyamira and Kisii to us and I wonder where they will campaign,” he said.
