Richard Onyonka has termed Jubilee government’s claim that Gusii region is a tossup region as ‘utopian thinking’ adding that ODM party will carry the day.

This comes after a section of media listed counties that have been identified by Jubilee strategists as swing regions.

But on Friday, Onyonka said Kisii and Nyamira Counties will remain in opposition since Jubilee government had ‘disappointed’.

“I am shocked that they (strategists) can classify Gusii as a tossup region. We are in ODM to stay and writings are big on the wall,” said the former ODM rebel.

The Kitutu Chache South MP added: “You don’t need rocket science to tell that we are solidly in opposition. That shall remain and August polls will confirm.”

In 2013, opposition leader Raila Odinga scored slightly over 70 percent over votes with President Uhuru Kenyatta managing a 30 percent score.

Both political parties have pitched tent in the region months to elections aiming to clinch over 700,000 votes at stake.
