Opposition leader Raila Odinga has been assured of resounding victory by a section of leaders from Kisii and Nyamira Counties in August general elections.
On Thursday, Odinga continued with his voter mobilization campaigns in Gusii region and addressed thousands of his supporters at Gesima and Kisii town.
Led by Orange Democratic Movement National Treasurer, they urged Odinga to tour swing regions where Jubilee administration is a threat.
“Gusii region is your stronghold and you saw that from Nyacheki by elections. As leaders, we want you to focus on the regions where ODM can wrestle with Jubilee and not in our Nyanza home turf,” he said.
“We have suspended most of our routine activities to ensure that people register in numbers. We are keen to ensure that you win presidency in August,” added Kisii Governor James Ongwae.
On his part, West Mugirango MP James Gesami said Odinga stood a good chance due to his continued support on devolved governments.
“In Nyanza, we have put proper mechanisms in place and I am happy that we are having numbers who can propel you to state house. We are also happy on you continued support to devolved governments,” he said.
Also present were Alice Chae (Nyamira), Richard Onyonka (Kitutu Chache South), Janet Ong’era (nominated) and several MCAs.
