A section of leaders from Gusii region have declared the region an ODM zone and warned Jubilee Party of tough times ahead.
The region which voted for opposition ODM overwhelmingly in 2013 has been witnessing penetration of government with President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto making several trips to the region.
MPs Timothy Bosire (Kitutu Masaba), Simba Arati (Dagoretti North) and Mary Otara (Kisii County) on Friday insisted that the region was a purely ODM zone and urged residents to vote for all its aspirants.
“ODM stands for social democracy and fights for the rights of the weak in the society. This remains our zone because we have been marginalised by the Jubilee government. Tell off those who come to hoodwink you,” said Bosire.
“Our economy has deteriorated under Jubilee and now they are hiding under white elephant projects just to hoodwink the community. Time has come for the government to know that this is a no-go zone,” added Simba Arati.
On her part, Otara hailed residents for opposing a political caucus dubbed ‘Obomo Bwo Mogusii’ which is under the leadership of area Senator Chris Obure.
"Recently they came up with a political outfit that was a jubilee creation and you stood against them. I am glad that we cannot be misled,” she said.
