After months of opposing Dagoretti North Simba Arati's quest as the community spokesperson, a section of leaders have now come into his defense.
So divisive was the issue, that even top leaders from both Nyamira and Kisii Counties publicly opposed his bid.
"I am ready to serve my people in spokesperson capacity. An idea whose time has come cannot be thwarted," he had said.
And on Sunday, Nyamira governor John Nyagarama led a host of leaders in backing Arati's bid, saying the move was not ill advised.
The ODM governor said: " When I see my son (Arati) fighting for his space, I feel proud. We should not condemn him."
Similar sentiments were echoed y Borabu MP Ben Momanyi who urged leaders across the two regions to back Arati.
"This attitude of backbiting other leaders should stop. There is nothing wrong when one of us avails himself to serve in other capacities."
Also present were Kisii Senator Sam Ong'eri, Women Rep Janet Ong'era and a host of leaders from the region.
In what many people view as James Ongwae succession in Kisii County, Aati has already installed himself as spokesperson.
