Kisii leaders now want to come together and consider the formation of a political party that will unite all Kisii leaders and champion the interests of the residents of the region.
This took place at Naivasha on Sunday where the meeting was graced by 13 MPs, Business people and clerics from both Kisii and Nyamira counties.
Being a meeting that was cutting across all Abagusii Leaders, Kisii Governor James Ongwae, Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama, Kisii senator Sam Ongeri and Nyamira Senator Okong'o Omogeni boycotted the meaning.
The Kisii Deputy Governor reportedly said that the meeting had no clear agenda and therefore had no good reason to attend.
However, for the leaders who turned out made the day a success.
"About 90 per cent leaders attended and made the say a success. We discussed various issues affecting the community such as unity , development and political future if the community." Borabu MP Ben Momanyi said.
At the meeting, the Kisii leaders had the agenda that would forsee the community spokesperson had been chosen and also the formation of a political party that would bring residents together and champion their interests.
Kitutu Chache South Mp Richard Onyonka retaliated to the boycott of some leaders and said the meeting was for the well being of the community and not for political controversy.
He however asked the residents to maintain unity among themselves as a community.
"We discussed how to capitalize on the political status and national handshake. The meeting was done in good faith and it was not controversial." Onyonka said.
