Leaders from Kisii and Nyamira counties have been urged to work together to ensure the Gusii community derives maximum benefit from devolution.

Speaking on Sunday at Nyamagwa parish during a funds drive, Kenyatta International Convention Centre board chairman, Omingo  Magara told leaders to unite to ensure equitable economic development is achieved for the benefit of Gusii people.

"As leaders we need to come together so that we can unite our community for a better future," said Magara.

According to Magara if the leaders come together to work as a team they will  help the community develop even faster. He has urged all leaders from the region from both Kisii and Nyamira counties to come together and give the community one future direction in terms of economic development.

Magara who was the MP for South Mugirango Constituency up till 2009, says he believes that if the community unites they can have a "greater bargaining power" for resources.

Also present was Bobasi member of parliament, Stephen Manoti who backed Magara saying that it was time Gusii leaders needed to unite to lead the community into greater social and economic development.
