Hundreds of Jubilee supporters went rampant in the streets of Kisii in solidarity worth education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i following opposition leader Raila Odinga’s onslaught.
At Gusii stadium on Tuesday, Odinga maintained that Matiang’i was absconding his duty by engaging in politics, a move that angered a section of Jubilee supporters.
The protest came barely a day after the flamboyant education chief hosted president Uhuru Kenyatta in Gusii region, a place believed to be opposition stronghold.
Protesters carrying banners in solidarity with Matiang’i marched din the South Nyanzan town moments before Odinga’s departure from the region.
While Odinga is banking on Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire to bank over 800, 000, Uhuru is working with Matiang’i and a number of politicians from the region.
In 2013, Odinga managed to scoop over 80 percent of votes while Kenyatta only managed slightly over 25 percent.
However since 2013, jubilee administration has made a series of inroads to the region, with Kenyatta making tens of trips.
