Speaking at a fundraising ceremony at Nyaronge primary in Borabu on Sunday, former South Mugirango MP Onderi Omweri said the party was founded on national principles under the leadership of the late Kitutu Masaba legislator George Anyona and was therefore suitable for Abagusii community.

He asked area politicians to commence immediately efforts to revamp the party and make it popular among all residents from the two counties besides kicking off membership registration.

“As Gusii people we need a party that can unite us beyond even the national borders and the party is KSC which was founded by Anyona George. I kindly ask all of you to help build the party that was founded on democratic principles,” he said.

“We should therefore as leaders start the process of revamping the party by recruiting new members, not only in the region but also in other parts of the country. That is achievable if we join hands as brothers,” he added.

Omweri dismissed the Ford People party that was founded by area political supremo Simeon Nyachae as clan based and short of democratic principles.

“Ford People is no longer a party for all. It is a family party that is used to serve interests of individuals hence undemocratic,” he said.

His statements might anger Ford People officials’ notably former planning minister and chairman Henry Obwocha who has been a chief agent of the party in the region. Anyona used KSC to unsuccessfully vie for presidency in 1992.
