Speaking on Monday at St Patrick Pastoral Centre, the group termed the appointment, which saw five members of Nyachae’s family appointed, as sheer politics.

They argued that the appointments by the president was meant to induce a political bargain come 2017 general election.

Led by their chairman Cyprian Getanda the group urged Constitution Implementation Committee (CIC) chairman Charles Nyachae to take up the challenge and look into the matter in respect to constitutional provisions.

“It is not fair for the president to appoint five members of the same family in a public offices,” notes Getanda.

Among the beneficiaries for the president's appointees from Kisii who directly linked to Nyachae family are two siblings and three nephews who will chair various government departments and parastatals.

However the CIC chairman has distanced himself from the appointments.

Instead Nyachae has defended the president's move saying that whoever the president appointed were with necessary merits.

Nyachae noted that if in the president's view of appointees were suitable he had no power to overturn it.
