The so-called Kisii unity movement (Obomo Bw’omogusii) members have been urged to enlist all politicians and residents from the region and to speak with one voice instead of promoting their self-interests.
Speaking on Sunday at Bundo in Nyamira County, former Kenya National Library Services chairman Samuel Nyangeso said unity promotes development and called on the initiative's proponents to also involve all politicians from Nyamira and Kisii counties to speak in one voice for the benefit of the region.
His sentiments were echoed by Nyamira woman representative Alice Chae who accused the movement's members of discriminating other politicians and alleged that the movement's members are after gaining political mileage, a move she noted would fail.
“If we need unity, why discriminate others? These people have experienced their defeat from the Nyacheki ward by-election which was won by ODM,” said Chae.
