President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto are unwelcome in Gusii region at least throughout the campaign period, insists Douglas Maati.
The ODM Youth chairman from Kitutu Masaba also questions the president’s development record in the region a part from state appointments.
Speaking at a funeral in Gachuba, Maati, a confident of firebrand Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire, said the ODM team will work hard to make things ‘impossible’ for them.
“We are not ready for Uhuru and Ruto. They have sidelined our region and they will reap from their mistakes. This is a no go zone for them,” Maati said.
He added: “As ODM, we shall make it impossible for them. They only work with a few egocentric individuals who mislead them about development.”
Perceived as opposition stronghold, the government however, has launched a charm offensive to consolidate support and the Jubilee Party strategists have earmarked the region as tossup.
Even though several MPs from the region have been working with government, a number of them have faced humiliations whenever selling government policies to locals.
