The meeting convened by Gusii Youth Governor John Otao and his Deputy Walter Mounde is meant to deliberate key issues affecting area youths among them social-economic challenges and minimal representation in leadership.

Speaking during the meeting, Otao blamed disunity among youths as the major reasons behind the daily struggles and vowed to continue championing for unity to realise the ‘youth dream’.

“We had to convene this conference so that we seek the best way forward. We are being sidelined socially-economically and time has come for us to say enough is enough. Disunity has been the main reason behind our woes but we are fixing the matter,” he said.

“For us to fight for our space in political representation, we have to unite and speak as one voice. A representation in political sphere will make us realise some of our dreams, like serving the society and promoting our economic interests,” he added.

Mounde, who also doubles as Kenya Universities and Colleges Secretary General urged youths to burry they differences and work together as a team to boost their economic well-being in the society.

“As youths, sometimes we subscribe to different political ideologies but that should not limit our dreams. We can bury our differences and rescue our future for the sake of our children. This is our time and if we can’t fix it today, we are likely to continue suffering,” he said.
