Nominated Senator Joy Gwendo has asked the Luo community to support the Jubilee government as a way of paying Deputy William Roto's political debt.
"The Luo community owe the Deputy President politically and we must pay him in the coming election by supporting Jubilee," Gwendo was quoted by Nation as saying.
She was speaking in reference to the support which Ruto gave Cord leader Raila Odinga during the 2007 elections.
Gwendo was speaking during a fundraiser for cotton farmers and Women groups in Kisumu East sub-county on Sunday.
On his part, Karachuonyo MP James Rege who recently decamped from ODM, the party that sponsored him to Parliament to Jubilee Party made it clear that he will defend his parliamentary seat on a Jubilee Party ticket.
"I was elected on an ODM ticket but I want to tell you that I will in 2017 defend my seat on a Jubilee Party ticket because I know it will form the next government and no society will develop without working with the government of the day," said Rege.
According to Rege, he is going to work with the government of the day for the sake of developing the region, a sentiment that was supported by former Rarieda MP Raphael Tuju.
