[Photo|MUHURI]Haki Africa has condemned with the strongest terms possible the breakage and damage to Muslims for Human Rights (MUHURI) legal clinic offices by unknown people. The offices situated opposite the Mombasa law courts were broken into by unknown people on Monday night. The human rights organisation said initial report suggested that few minutes after they had closed the office for the day, unknown people with ill intentions tried accessing the office by breaking the entrance door which triggered the alarm system and security guards rapidly responded to the alarm that made the culprits flee.In an update, MUHURI said a team of forensic experts were doing a preliminary examination as other key staff and directors recorded statement at the police station."We can confirm that the attempt to access our offices was not successful. We will issue a formal report on this tomorrow," MUHURI said, Monday evening.Haki Africa urged the police speed up investigations into the incident and bring the culprits to justice."We urge the police to launch speedy investigation into the matter and bring the culprits to book because this is an attack on the sovereignty of human rights defenders," said the organisation in a communication."We are going to use every possible avenue to make sure the perpetrators are captured and charged in a court of law."
