[Photo|HAKI Africa]HAKI Africa has launched a paralegal training of trainers for community women to address issues of gender based violence at the Coast Region.The training followed a partnership between the organisation with the Chief Kadhi’s office, Public International Law and Policy Group (PILPG), Kituo Cha Sheria-Legal Advice Centre and the Law Society of Kenya Mombasa branch.They are training several women from Mombasa County (which has majority cases of human rights violations) who have been trained as Counselors through Japan Center for Conflict Prevention (JCCP) Kenya, as paralegals since they actively bring the cases to our attention.The guests at the launch on Thursday included the Chief Kadhi Ahmed Muhdhar, Second secretary of the Canadian High Commission, Mombasa Woman Representative Asha Hussein, Aimee Onyeso and Sylvie Nyamunjere from PILPG, Timonthy Nzomo and Evans Okeyo - Regional Coordinator from Independent Policing Oversight Authority - IPOA, Law Society of Kenya secretariat Janet Ajwang, Hussein Khalid Ummu, Juneid Wevyn and Muganda Francis Auma.
