Reports show that almost half of Ngong Forest has been grabbed. Top Kenya Forest Service official s say that a huge chunk of the forest has been illegally acquired.
“According to KFS, 1,224.4 hectares of the forest has only remained out of the initial 2,850 when it was gazetted in 1932,” Said Mr James Gitonga, The KFS conservancy head in Nairobi.
The revelation was given during the launch of a management plan and signing of the plan agreement last week.
Emilio Mugo, KFS chief conservator said that Ngong Forest faces a major human occupation challenge due to its pre-urban state.
