Cord leader Raila Odinga has been advised to shelve his political ambitions and back a younger candidate in the 2017 polls.

Former ODM secretary general Ababu Namwamba told Odinga that his time was up in the political scene and its time he took a backseat. 

Speaking in Bungoma County Sunday, the Budalangi lawmaker told Odinga that he would support Cord if only he (Raila)will be willing to relinquish his presidential bid in favor of Bungoma senator Moses Wetangula. 

"We are telling Cord, and we have already told Raila Odinga. If they agree to have Wetangula vie on the Cord ticket we are going to support you," he said.

The former Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairman  acrimoniously left ODM citing frustrations and rebranded the Labour party of Kenya (LPK) which is his latest political home.
