The NGO which has been piloting the programme in Kamagut and Kiplombe wards of Turbo Sub County identified the two wards as prone to effects of diarrhoea disease as a result of poor sanitation.

And in a Hand Wash exercise held last year in Kamagut, a number of households were found as having no toilet across sub-locations in the ward.

Neighbours in action have therefore resolved to extend the exercise to other sub-counties through the involvement of other partners that upon coming on board will see sanitation rates improved across the County.

The Public Health Officer in charge of Community Led Total Sanitation Programme (CLTS) Everlyn Kipesa said Red Cross and The Rotary club are among the participants that have already shown interest in the initiative.

Chief Officer for Health Services Wilson Kemei lauded the partner for the continued support of the County on matters community sanitation.

"The program is of great benefit to the County residents as its impact is felt directly," said Mr Kemei on Thursday during county entry meeting on the endorsement of implementation of sanitation in Turbo, Kamagut ward.

The NGO despite identifying the affected areas with poor hygiene has partnered with the county in establishing toilets for the families that do not have one.
