Friction between parents and their children is normal. It's different people with different personalities trying to find common ground. What do you do when your parents have a tendency to be extremely unreasonable? First, you need to maintain your cool. Flipping out, yelling and acting out will not make them understand where you're coming from. Even if it catches their attention at the moment, I doubt it will lead to a constructive solution. Your parents know more than you or at least have had more experience even through their mistakes. Show them that you do take their opinions seriously. That you did weigh what they had to say with an open mind. Present your opinions clearly trying to make them understand you. If they won't take your idea as is, try to find a middle ground. For instance, if they want you to take computer classes and you want to take music classes, see whether you can take both. Or maybe take a class for one and have a tutor for the other.Keep insisting your desires to them if you feel strongly about them.
